Is this the course for me?
DO YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE IN FRONT OF A CINEMA CAMERA?
The more that you’re used to performing in front of the camera, the more at ease you’ll feel and then you’ll be able to do your best work. This intensive workshop gives you the opportunity to get up in front of the camera and allow you to feel comfortable while performing.
HAVE YOU RECENTLY PERFORMED ON CAMERA?
Practice makes perfect. If you’ve recently shot a short or student film, maybe some corporate work or you’ve even landed yourself a TV/Film job, then why not keep your screen muscles warm and keep training. We get actors with a huge variety of experience but the ones who always succeed are the ones who understand that you must never stop learning as an actor. Even if you have had that experience of shooting on a film set, there’s no harm in going back to understand the basics as it’s not uncommon for actors to jump straight into film work without understanding the foundations of screen acting. If you walk away from one of our workshops without having learnt something - we’ll give you your money back!
ARE YOU ABLE TO FULLY PREPARE A SCRIPT FOR on-screen PERFORMANCE?
We put a big focus on making sure that our technical and textual understanding of Film & TV scripts is translated to our performance on screen. If you haven’t done your work on a script, there’s no hiding it from the camera. The process of picking apart scripts for screen can be tricky and it’s something you’ll walk away having a much greater understanding of from this intensive.
DO YOU enjoy SCREEN ACTING?
We love working with people who love to do this. Acting for screen is a joyous experience and all of our actors leave our workshops feeling inspired and with a greater sense of purpose in their careers. These workshops are an opportunity to get it wrong, to build connections with other actions and to find some more love in your craft.

Our course is run for 10 hours over 2 days. On the first day we focus on text, genre and preparation. We look at how to break down a TV/Film script and methods of creating a technically sound performance that serves the script. There is a big focus on how we can tell stories with our eyes, playing subtext, finding intelligent choices and playing the intentions behind the dialogue.
On the second day we introduce another actor into your scenes. We look at listening, responding and playing change in a way that is appropriate for the camera. The primary focus of the second day is responding to direction and creating technically sound performances so that all actors walk away with a foundational understanding of what makes up good screen technique.
On both days, each actor will get individual time in front of a cinema camera, with constant playback and review. At the end of the second day, we shoot our scenes with proper lighting and sound. These takes are then graded, edited and sent out to all actors for their own use - free of charge.
-
Yes, each actor will receive their takes which each get a simple colour grade and some sound work. These are sent out for no additional cost.
-
All of our tutors are industry professionals who have years of experience teaching specifically screen acting or are seasoned professional actors and directors in the industry.
-
This intensive course could be a great way of gearing yourself up to join our weekly sessions. Particularly if you need some more time to build confidence in front of the camera.
